How long does it take for rental gear to arrive?

We ship our gear via 3-day UPS, so you should rent your gear at least 4 days in advance unless you are located in Wyoming or a neighboring state. 

I need this in the next day or two! Can you help?

Since we ship our gear out, our website does not permit anyone to make an order less than 4 days out. If you're in the Jackson Hole area, we can likely get it to you today or tomorrow. If you need it shipped overnight or two-day, we'll do what we can to accommodate you! Additional shipping/handing fees may apply. Contact us via email or our live chat so that we can confirm availability of the gear you want and provide you with a quote.

If I like the gear I rent, can I pay to keep it?

For sure! Let us know you're interested in purchasing your gear and we'll quote you a price. 

Do you ship to Alaska or Canada?

If you're heading to Alaska or Canada from the U.S., we suggest having your rental order shipped to your house and packing it with you. If this isn't an option, we may be able to accommodate your gear needs, but you be charged additional shipping & handling fees due to the cost of shipping these orders and the additional time this gear is in transit (making it unavailable to other customers). Contact us via email or our live chat so that we can confirm availability of the gear you want and provide you with a quote.

Why can't I schedule deliveries or returns on Saturdays and Sundays? 

Since our gear is shipped, we're tied to UPS's operating schedule. They do not ship on weekends. If this creates a conflict with your travel dates, or you are renting locally in the Jackson Hole area, contact us and we'll help get you sorted!

What if I'm late in returning my gear?

Don’t be late. The last day of your rental period is the agreed upon return time and should be dropped at a UPS location no later than 12pm on your return date. Any returns on the following day will incur a $50 charge for each late day until your late charges have exceeded the full retail cost of the gear. This is to encourage on time gear rentals so other customers do not miss out on their gear.

What if I accidentally stain or damage the gear?

The required insurance fee you pay at checkout covers minor repairs if the gear rented from Mountainist is damaged during normal use. The charge for the insurance service is $3-5 per item and will appear as a separate line item during your checkout. Mountainist insurance does not cover loss or damage to the gear caused by theft, abuse, misuse, neglect, intentional acts or failure to follow the instructions provided for proper use and care of the rented gear. You will be charged the full replacement price (price of gear + sales tax) for any gear with significant damage.

How do I cancel my order?

Any order that hasn't yet been prepped and packed for shipment (typically 4 days before your rental begins) is eligible for cancellation. To cancel, please contact us at rentgear@mountainist.com. For reservations 14 days or more days away, you will can change your gear reservation at no charge, or use the credit towards a future rental. For reservations less 14 days out, you will be charged a $50 cancellation fee and the remaining value will be available to use towards a future rental.
